Since we first came to New Jersey, my wife and I were enchanted by the antics of Sanderlings as they ran up and down with the waves at the shore. Once I started photographing birds in 2001, I became aware of the range of different kinds of Sandpipers. Some, I've seen often, Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers, Ruddy Turnstones, Red Knots, and Dunlin, while others are rarities for me: Western, Pectoral, Stilt, Buff-breasted, and White-rumped Sandpipers. |
