May 9: This remarkable picture inspired me to believe that perhaps there was some hope that maximizing the zoom of my camera could lead to good results. This is the adult veery on our back fence. I had both 1.6x lenses on the front, and I had the 2.7x digital zoom activated too. Even though the bird was 50 feet away, the camera thought it was about 7 feet away, and so I was able to activate the macro feature. This increased the depth of field and I continue to be astonished at how good this picture is. |
