I stumbled upon this charming scene at the end of the street. One of my neighbors has this bird box hanging from a tree and this little bird obviously lives there. Thanks to Michael on the bird watching forum, I can report that this is a house wren. It's about the size and color of a sparrow (it looked browner than it appears here), but it's not a sparrow.
